Méthode Souffle:
becoming parents
together.

A pathway of emotional and relational support for becoming parents together. Sessions are offered in English (and in French), by video call wherever you live, or in person in Brive-la-Gaillarde, France.

A free 30-minute introductory session by telephone.

Time for the two of you.

How can you become parents together?

You are expecting a baby and want to move through this transition together. The Méthode Souffle helps you understand your emotions, stress responses and needs, build mutual support and find your bearings as parents.

Themes to explore

Five movements for becoming parents together.

A flexible pathway to recognise your needs, develop your resources and support each other through the transition ahead.

Explore the support offered

Know yourselves and identify your resources

Understand stress responses in simple terms, recognise physical signals and identify what helps each of you feel more available: how do I feel, what do I need, and what helps me now?

Change how you view birth

Explore the stories you have heard, worrying images and personal expectations to make more room for trust, emotions and the unexpected.

Build mutual support

Learn to listen, ask and welcome an emotion without having to solve it immediately. The second parent receives support for their own experience, fears and transition.

Experience birth together

Draw on the resources you have practised: presence, comfortable breathing, grounding and communication. Visualisations explore different situations, including a birth that changes direction, to support your ability to adapt.

Find your bearings as parents

Continue the support after birth: welcome mixed emotions, protect time for recovery, ask for help, adjust how you function as a couple and get to know your baby.

Resources to practise, integrate and reconnect with your strengths at home
  • Audio recordings
  • Birth videos
  • Practical exercises

Build mutual support.

Each of you becomes a parent in your own way and receives full support.

The second parent receives resources for their own experience, fears and transition. Their place extends beyond the support they provide on the day of the birth.

Together, you learn to listen, ask and welcome an emotion without having to solve it immediately.

Discuss your expectations

Does the Méthode Souffle replace medical care or the sessions with a midwife?

No. The Méthode Souffle is non-medical support that complements the care and appointments provided by healthcare professionals. It does not replace them. In France, seven birth and parenthood preparation sessions are fully covered by the national health insurance (Assurance maladie) when they are led by a midwife or a doctor: the Méthode Souffle is not one of them and is not reimbursed, it comes in addition.

What happens in the first conversation?

The introductory session is free and lasts 30 minutes by telephone. It gives you time to get to know each other, ask questions and discuss the next steps together.
